Policeman arrested for abetting gold smuggling

KATHMANDU: A policeman has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport on charges of aiding and abetting gold smuggling.

According to DIG Rajesh Nath Bastola, Rajendra KC, a police constable working at the Drug Control Bureau, was arrested Saturday based on the clues on CCTV. KC was seen supporting the passing of the gold skipping custom’s desk at the airport.

The customs office at TIA had tightened the check after the gold was brought in the shape of jewelry to evade customs.

Accused KC and the passengers are kept in Metropolitan Office Gaushala.

The police are investigating further for details.
