ANFA announces National Women’s Football Team for SAAF Championship

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has announced a 23-member national women’s football team for the U-19 SAAF Championship to be held in Bangladesh.

Head coach Hari Om Shrestha announced the 23-member squad after playing a friendly match with the national team.

However, ANFA has not made the list public.

The announced team includes players from six national teams. Goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar, defenders Bimala BK, Sabita Rana Magar, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Preeti Rai and Rajni Thokar are members of the national team.

The six players made their national team debuts in the game against Bangladesh last July and in the AFC Women’s Asian Qualifiers.

Similarly, defenders Rojina Shrestha, Susma Tamang, Saloni Rana Magar, Menuka Ale Magar, Saraswati Hamal and Amisha Karki have represented Nepal in the previous U-18 championship.

The single round-robin fair to be held in Dhaka will be held from December 11 to December 21.

Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and India along with Nepal will participate in the competition.

Nepal will first play its first match against host Bangladesh on December 11.
