KATHMANDU: Nepali national team is playing a friendly match against India at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday in the final of the two friendlies.

In the first match played on Thursday, the Nepali national team played a 1-1 draw against India. For the Nepal side, Anjan Bista scored a goal in the 37th minute of the first half. Anjan gave the lead to Nepal by grabbing the ball passed by the Indian defender to his goalkeeper.

But, Substitute player Aniruddha Thapa scored an equalizer goal in the 60th minute for India. Goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong saved Sunil Chhetri’s shot from 18 yards.

However, India’s substitute Aniruddha scored the goal in the rebound ball as he could not control it well. Aniruddha entered the field in the second half. India had changed two players early in the second half.

The two national teams have faced each other on 20 occasions with India winning in 13 of them. Nepal has defeated India two times the latest of which was the 2-1 victory in the 2013 SAFF Championship in Kathmandu.

The matches are as part of preparations for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship scheduled to take place in the Maldives from October 1-16.
