Writ against NEA MD Ghising not to be heard today

KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ petition filed against Kul Man Ghising and scheduled to take place today has been listed as the one that cannot be heard owing to time constraints on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, the case was assigned to the bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Sumsher Rana and scheduled for hearing. However, CJ Rana is also to hear other writs. He is also scheduled to hear the writ petition filed against Speaker Agni Sapkota and the Election Commission (EC) arguing that the registration of the CPN-Unified Socialist is illegal.

Former MD Hitendra Dev Shakya on August 16 had moved the SC with a writ petition seeking revocation of the appointment of Ghising as NEA’s new MD.

In the writ petition, Shakya claimed that he had not received any official letter of removal from office and the government’s move of roping in Ghising to replace him had violated his constitutional rights.
