KATHMANDU: The Philippines has lifted travel bans on 10 Asian countries, including Nepal to be effective from Monday.

According to sources, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is lifting a coronavirus ban on travelers from 10 countries including India, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia and Nepal from September 6.

The Philippines had banned India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia since last April after a delta variant of the coronavirus triggered.

The travel ban has been lifted saying that the situation is improving and the use of vaccines has also increased.

Although the travel ban has been lifted, the quarantine provision still prevails.
