KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has objected to the convening of a special session of Lumbini Provincial Assembly (PA).
The UML said the special PA session convened by Governor Amik Sherchan on August 11 was against the constitution.
At a press meet held by the UML Lumbini Parliamentary Party (PP) Thursday, Chief Whip Bhumishwar Dhakal argued that a no-confidence motion cannot be filed against a single majority government formed under Article 168 (1) of the constitution.
“The UML raises serious objection to the special session convened by the governor to discuss the no-confidence motion,” he said. “It is against the constitution,” Dhakal said.
He also clarified that he had gone to Bimala Khatri’s home to deliver a clarification letter sent by UML Chairman KP Oli and he took her to Chief Minister’s residence as per her wish. He refuted allegations of hostage-taking labeled by Khatri against Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel.
