Oli faction urged to halt general convention-related preparation

KATHMANDU: The Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the CPN-UML has urged the establishment faction led by party Chairman KP Oli to halt preparations aimed at convening the general convention.

Addressing a Central Committee (CC) meeting of the Nepal faction in Buddhanagar Thursday, senior leader Nepal said he was all for unity and resolving differences between the rival factions.

According to leader Raghuji Panta, the Nepal faction’s dispute resolution task force Coordinator Bhim Rawal asked task force members of the Oli faction to immediately stop the process of party membership renewal and preparation to hold ward level conventions.

Meanwhile, the Oli faction is preparing to hold ward level conventions on September 19, local level conventions on September 25, and the legislative assembly has been slated for September 12 and 13.

The Nepal faction demanded that the committees valid as of May 8, 2016, should take forward all the processes related to the general convention.
