Health Ministry projects nearly 200,000 more people will be infected with coronavirus in next five months

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has projected that around 200,000 people will be infected from coronavirus in the next five months.

Health and Education Committee of the House of Representatives, the head of the policy, planning, and monitoring division under the Ministry of Health, Dr. Gunaraj Lohani presented the data on Thursday.

According to the projection of the Ministry of Health, there is a possibility of 193,856 people to be affected with the coronavirus by the end of this month.

According to the projection, 38,771 people are in need of treatment and 9,693 people are in need of intensive care.

The Ministry said that 53,307 people will be infected till mid-August, 45,726 in mid-August to mid-September, 38,597 in mid-September to mid-October, 31,044 in mid-October to mid November and 25,183 in mid-November to mid-December.

Public health experts have suggested adopting health measures as there is a possibility of a third wave spreading of late.
