NC objects to the Election Commission’s election schedule

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has objected to the election schedule made public by the Election Commission on Monday.

Alleging that the election schedule of the EC has come out with ill intention and at bad time, NC spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma objected to the schedule.

“The EC schedule has come at a time when the hearing on the writ petitions related to the dissolution of House of Representatives is on the final-stage,” spokesperson Sharma said, “The publication of the schedule seems have come with the intention to influence the court verdict by showing the election process has already started.”

Making the election schedule public on Monday, the commission called the political parties for registration at the EC office.

Unlike in the previous hearings on the similar case, the Supreme Court has already fixed the hours for hearing from both sides. The hearing of the all sides in the case including the writ petitioners, defendants and the amicus curiae has completed on Monday.

The final verdict on the case is likely to come on July 12.

However, the commission has fixed the time of party registration from July 15 to July 30.

EC has made the election program for the first phase election to be held on November 12 public.
