EC endorses mid-term polls date; unveiling 67-pt election schedule today

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has approved the election schedule for the House of Representatives (HoR).

The election schedule has been approved at a time when the hearing on the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the HoR is still underway at the Supreme Court.

The EC has said it is making final preparations to make the election schedule public as per the direction of the government.

KP Sharma Oli-led government had dissolved the HoR and announced the date for mid-term polls on November 12 to 19.

An election schedule is being unveiled in a while today. “A 67-point election schedule is being published in a while today,” a highly-placed source at the EC said.

According to the schedule, nominations will be filed on October 6, complaints on October 8 and the final name-list will be published on October 11 for the first phase elections.

Similarly, as for the second phase of the elections, the EC has set October 17 for filing nominations and October 22 for publishing the final name-list.
