Three Karnali province ministers to resign today



KATHMANDU: Three ministers of the Karnali state government are set to resign on Monday.

Minister for Economic Affairs Prakash Jwala, Minister for Social Development Dal Rawal, and Minister for Tourism, Industry, Forest, and Environment Nanda Singh Budha are stepping down today.

“We are resigning today as our party has decided to withdraw its support to the government,” Minister Jwala said.

Earlier on Sunday, a meeting of the CPN-UML Karnali Pradesh Parliamentary Party had directed the three ministers to immediately resign.

The 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly has 20 lawmakers from the CPN-UML and 13 from the CPN (Maoist Center). The Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi is from CPN (Maoist Center).

Earlier on March 17, the UML had decided to withdraw its support to the Karnali state government.
