Health Ministry directs local units to adopt health safety measures to curb COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has sent a circular to all the local units across the country to adopt health safety measures to curb the increasing cases of coronavirus.

The circular has been dispatched to all 753 local units directing them to strictly implement health safety measures determined by the government in view of the COVID-19 cases, said Section Officer Maheshwor Dahal.

The ministry has said health safety measures should strictly be adopted to preempt the havoc the pandemic could wreak in Nepal in the coming days as the COVID-19 infection cases are ever-increasing in southern neighbor India and in some European countries.

In the circulation, the local units have been directed to conduct

RDT tests on the visitors suffering from fever at the health desk set up at the transit points, said the ministry.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 should be immediately admitted to the nearby hospital by the respective unit in line with the Quarantine Directive, 2077 BS, reads the circulation.

Similarly, arrangements of contract tracing should be made while keeping vigil on the cases of the pandemic identifying the places with the highest number of cases.

The ministry has also stressed the need to step up publicity campaigns to ensure the implementation of the health safety standards determined by the government.

Nepal has recorded a total of 176 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, taking the caseload to 2, 77,944.
