Govt minting Rs 2 coins at the cost of Rs 2.52



KATHMANDU: The government is minting 100 million coins of Rs 2 at the cost of Rs. 2.52.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Thursday issued a letter of intent in the name of The Royal Mint Company of the United Kingdom to design, mint, supply and delivery of 100 million coins denominated in Rs 2.

The NRB said it would spend a total of 16,64,000 pound sterling to print 100 million coins.

Earlier, the government had spent a maximum of Rs 2.35 per coin to print a Rs 1 coin.
