Muktinath Temple opens after 10 months



JOMSOM: Popular religious destination Muktinath Temple has been opened on Tuesday after almost 10 months.

Situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters from the sea level in Jomsom district, Muktinath Development Committee opened the religious site for general devotes from today.

It had been shut down after the Nepal government imposed lockdown on March 24 after the cases of COVID-19 spiked in the country.

A meeting of the Muktinath Development Committee had decided to open the temple on January 1 following consultation with various stakeholders.

Chief of Baragung Muktikshetra rural municipality Phenchok Chhepten Gurung said the temple which was shut down 10 months ago has been opened for pilgrimage.
