Prachanda-Nepal faction-affiliated students unveil fresh protest programs

KATHMANDU: As part of intensifying protest against the dissolution of the parliament, All Nepal National Free Student’s Union (ANNFSU), close to Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), has announced fresh protest programs against the government.

Issuing a press release on Tuesday, ANNFSU denounced Prime Minister KP Oli’s dissolution of House of Representatives as a unconstitutional move and announced intense protest programs ranging from exhibition of carts and showing black flags to the ministers, among others.

“We would like to warn against the cowardly act of intimidating and arresting protesters by trampling on the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution,” ANNFSU press release has stated, adding, “Our agitation will continue to move forward vigorously unless regressive measures are taken to restore the unconstitutionally dissolved House of Representatives.”

ANNFSU has said that in the second phase of struggle program they will display black flags to the ministers of KP Oli government from January 5.

Similarly, there will be lantern and cane procession in the Kathmandu Valley on January 6. Likewise, they will burn the effigy of PM Oli on January 7 and submit memorandum to the District Administration Offices on January 8; and hold a sit-in at the DAO office on the same day.

They have demanded to end the confusion on the curriculum of Class 11 and start the exams of all levels disrupted by COVID-19 pandemic.
