NC Gen Convention: Joshi and Sharma in fray for president in Gandaki



POKHARA: The voting is underway at the Exhibition Centre in Pokhara to elect a new leadership in Gandaki Pradesh under the 14th General Convention of Nepali Congress.

A total of 1,085 representatives are casting their votes in the provincial election underway at the state capital Pokhara today. Meanwhile, supporters are chanting slogans outside the voting centre in favour of their respective candidates.

A total of 150 candidates are vying for 68 different pots including that of office-bearers.

Arjun Prasad Joshi from Deuba faction and Shukra Raj Sharma from Poudel faction are contesting elections for the post of president in Gandaki Pradesh.

Similarly, Mekh Lal Shrestha and Netra Mahat from Deuba faction are in the fray for the vice presidents. Likewise, Kumar Khadka of Kaski and Ishwar Pandey of Gorkha have been nominated for the post of general secretaries.

Rajan Raj Pant, Jhul Bahadur Ale and Omkala Gautam have been nominated for the post of deputy general secretaries. Hari Prasad Shrestha of Baglung and Kalpana Tiwari of Syangja have been nominated for the post vice chairpersons from Poudel faction.

Bishnu Lamichhane of Nawalpur and Kiran Babu Shrestha of Gorkha have  been nominated for the post general secretaries.

Likewise, Ram Chandra Joshi, Ramesh Pandey and Kopila Ranabhat are vying for the post of deputy general secretaries from Poudel faction.
