Hong Kong govt distributes fire safety equipment to Nepali community in view of ‘Tihar’ celebration

KATHMANDU: The government in Hong Kong has distributed fire safety equipment to the Nepali community in the city as a preventive measure in view of the community’s celebration of festival of lights ‘Tihar’.

Hong Kong’s Secretary of Defense Chris Tang visited the houses of Nepalis in the city and distributed fire control materials.

Yau Tsim Mong District Fire Safety Committee, among others, also conducted various fire-fighting and awareness programs in the areas densely populated by Nepalis in coordination with Hong Kong Nepalese Federation.

Eight Nepalis were killed in a fire incident in Hong Kong during the celebration of Tihar last year.

Nepalis in Hong Kong celebrate Tihar the same way it is celebrated in Nepal.

The government in Hong Kong is taking precautions to minimize fire-related incidents during Nepali community’s Tihar celebration.
