Birgunj-based clock tower resumes functioning

BIRGUNJ: The clock tower based in Ghantaghar of Birgunj Bazaar – the country’s biggest economic hub – has come to functioning.

Birgunj Metropolitan City took the initiative to resume the operation of clock tower after carrying out necessary maintenance. The clock tower – the special identify marker of Birgunj – has remained dysfunctional for the past six years.

Metropolis mayor Bijaya Kumar Sarabagi said the Ghantaghar-based clock has been brought to functioning after its necessary maintenance. Likewise, the metropolis took the responsibility to manage the operation and maintenance of the clock tower in coming days.

As informed the metropolis has allocated a budget of Rs 5 million for the maintenance of the tower in the current fiscal year 2021/22. Ghantaghar is the main center of attraction of Birgunj.
