CPN-UML not to invite Unified Socialist to Gen Convention



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has said it will not invite CPN (Unified Socialist) to its upcoming 10th General Convention.

Madhav Kumar led-Unified Socialist had been formed following the split of the mother party CPN-UML. CPN-UML is holding its 10th General Convention on November 26 to 28 in Chitwan.

Organizing a press meet on Wednesday, UML Secretary and in-charge of the publicity department Yogesh Bhattarai said UML will not invite Unified Socialist stating that it was formed illegally.

“We will invite major political parties as their addresses are fixed. Some parties do not have fixed and clear addresses. Unified Socialist was created illegally nor does it have fixed address. So our party will not invite it to the party 10th General Convention,” said Bhattarai.

UML has invited major political parties represented in the parliament, representatives from communist parties across the world and political parties associated with the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) to the general convention.

To be held on the bank of the Narayani River in Chitwan, around 500,000 people participate in the mega event, the party said.
