NC meeting inconclusive as both sides stick to respective stance

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the top leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) convened to resolve the active membership dispute ended inconclusively.

In the meeting held at the residence of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha Wednesday, the leaders failed to reach an agreement on the resolution of the dispute related to active membership.

President Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, Bimalendra Nidhi, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, and leaders Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr. Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak, among others, attended the meeting.

The meeting remained inconclusive after the establishment side alleged the disgruntled faction led by Ram Chandra Poudel for raising disputes over the new members even though the issue of integration was settled.

“We could not reach a conclusion. We held a serious discussion but could not resolve the dispute as the party leadership did not want to budge an inch,” a leader of the Poudel faction said.
