NC top leaders’ meeting underway at Budhanilkantha

Discussing on active membership dispute resolution

KATHMANDU: A meeting of Nepali Congress leaders is underway at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence at Budhanilkantha to resolve the dispute over the active membership  renewal and distribution.

According to NC sources, party President Deuba, Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, and Krishna Sitaula are at Budhanilkantha for the meeting.

Similarly, Ramesh Lekhak, the coordinator of the active membership investigation committee and Dr. Minendra Rijal are also in the meeting.

The investigation committee had failed to resolve the active membership disputes of 13 constituencies. The top three leaders have been handed over the  report.

The Congress Central General Convention is scheduled for September 1.

However, with the postponement of the ward level convention scheduled for July 27 due to the dispute over active membership distribution, renewal and integration is likely to affect the pre-determined schedule.

PM Deuba is under pressure to complete cabinet formation and work simultaneously on the calendar of party’s general convention.
