KATHMANDU: A five-star hotel is under construction at local Naxal at an investment of Rs 8 billion.

The construction of Hotel Hilton Kathmandu is underway at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-1.

The Shanker Group is constructing the hotel under Jagadamba Hospitality Group Pvt Ltd. Shanker Group is an emerging conglomerate in Nepal.

The hotel spread on an area of eight ropanis is a chain hotel, said Nitin Sharma, the vice-president of Jagadamba Hospitality Group.

This will be the first member hotel of the Hilton Hotel chain with more than 6,000 chain hotels across the world.

Construction of the hotel had started in 2016 with the target of completing it in 2020.

However, the construction was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vice-president Sharma said the construction works of the hotel have been expedited to finish by the end of 2022.

The luxury five-star hotel will have 175 guest rooms, a health club, spa, air-conditioned swimming pool, and fitness center, among a host of amenities.
