UML demands govt to correct its decision of scrapping Land Issue Resolving Commission

KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has demanded the government to correct its decision of scrapping the Land Issue Resolving Commission.

Issuing a press release today, UML Spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali demanded an immediate correction to the government’s decision, saying the decision has hit the people’s expectations and rights.

He made it clear that there would always be the solidarity of the party towards the genuine demands and voices of the landless, squatters, and Dalits, adding the CPN (UML) is always aware and sensitive towards their rights and welfare.

The government on Tuesday had decided to scrap the Commission.

The statement reads, “Ownership of financially and socially poor class people will be developed towards the change only if they get benefits of political change and the change can get its meaning only after this.”

The government’s decision to scrap the Commission has jeopardized the fundamental rights of millions of landless squatters, Dalits at a time when the problem, taking place in the country for long, of landless, squatters and Dalits is moving ahead towards the resolution in a sustainable manner.

The Commission was formed as per the Land related Act (eighth amendment) to implement the state’s directive principles and policies, mentioned the statement.

The Commission was formed around one year ago and a district-based committee of the Commission was formed in all the 77 districts.
