SC hearing against citizenship ordinance adjourned till June 10

Hearing on HoR dissolution to resume from Sunday



KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ petition filed against the controversial Citizenship Ordinance has been adjourned till June 10.

According to sources, the hearing that began on Friday in constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been adjourned till Thursday.

Earlier, after the dispute over the formation of previous constitutional bench, Chief Justice Rana formed a new constitutional bench comprising five senior justices at the Supreme Court roster.

There are six separate writ petitions against the Citizenship Ordinance including the one filed by senior advocate Borna Bahadur Karki.

On the recommendation of the government, President Bidyadevi Bhandari had issued the Citizenship Ordinance on May 23.

A hearing on the writ petition against the dissolution of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Sunday.
