World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal beats Chinese Taipei 2-0

KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Chinese Taipei by 2-0 in a match under the World Cup Qualifiers held on Thursday night.

Held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City,  Anjan Bista and Nawayug Shrestha scored goals for Nepal.

In the third minute of the match,  Nepal had taken the lead with a penalty goal by Bista.

Nepal had got an opportunity of penalty after a free kick ball shot by midfielder Santosh Tamang happened to touch the hand of Taipei’s player in the D-box zone.

In the 81st  minute, Nepal doubled the score against Taipei after Shrestha scored another goal capitalizing on a cross given by Suman Aryal.

Shrestha had entered the ground in the 69th minute in replacement of Sunil Bal.

Despite some opportnites created by Taipei in the second half, it could not convert them into goals.

With the win over Taipei, Nepal has reached the fourth position with six points.  Nepal will take on Jordan on June 7.
