14 Nepali prisoners in Qatar get amnesty

DOHA: The  Qatar government has granted amnesty to 14 Nepali prisoners serving jail terms for various offenses in Qatar.

On the occasion of the arrival Ramadan, the holy month of Muslim people, the government has granted amnesty to many prisoners, including 14 Nepalis passing time in Qatar’s Central Prison and other prisons.

Praveen Bhattarai,  the Second Secretary of the Nepali Embassy in Qatar, informed that the embassy would facilitate  home return of the people who received amnesty.

On the occasion of  Ramadan Qatar grants amnesty to prisoners every year.

Earlier, Qatar had pardoned eight Nepalis living in jail for various offenses.

Last year, 17 more prisoners were released due to the coronavirus pandemic.
