POKHARA: Amik Sherchan, who was called back from the post of Gandaki Province governor, has warned that the country’s politics was heading towards autocracy.
Speaking at a press conference in Pokhara on Tuesday, Sherchan, who was sacked from the post on Monday, said that it was better to get rid of it than to remain in office without any authority.
He also thanked President Bidya Devi Bhandari for releasing him from what he said “prison” without due process. He claimed that he was initially forced to accept the post as he was a disciplined cadre of the party.
Sherchan also made it clear that he has not caused any inconvenience to the government as he does not have the right to influence any decision as per the constitution.
Stating that he was merely occupying the post of the Province Chief without any authority, Sherchan, however, said he was taken aback when he was ousted without even giving any clue.
