KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel held talks with Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahanta Thakur on government formation.
Poudel reached Thakur’s residence in Hattiban Sunday morning and discussed the latest political stalemate and ways out to bail out the country from the current political stalemate.
According to a leader close to Poudel, the half-an-hour talks basically focused on government formation.
The meeting comes at a time when NC’s central committee meeting decided to seek the resignation of Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday.
The party has also decided to take the lead in forming a government.
However, no concrete decision has been made between Poudel and Thakur on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Poudel had assured NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi, who is NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s confidant, he would talk with JSP if Deuba agreed to become the Prime Minister.
