Prachanda-Nepal faction heading to EC today

KATHMANDU: Prachanda-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is making preparations to go to the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday.

The faction is heading to the EC after it dillydallied to take decisions regarding the authenticity of the party.

A CC meeting on Wednesday had collected signatures of the lawmakers loyal to the faction.  According to sources, chairman duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda, Madhav Nepal among other lawmakers will go to the EC with a three-page-long list of lawmakers’ signatures, identity and citizenship cards.

Claiming the authenticity of the party, the faction had submitted a letter at the EC on February 2. However, the EC has taken no decisions on it, so far.

The faction has been unhappy with the EC after it denied recognition to the party split.

Even though the ruling NCP has been politically divided, the EC has decided not to give recognition to any decisions taken post December 20, 2021.
