NC leaders divided over joining new govt

KATHMANDU:  Leaders of main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have been divided over whether to join a new government.

President Sher Bahadur Deuba is in favor of joining the government while senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel wants the party to remain in opposition.

Speaking at a program, Deuba said he is not running after the post of the Prime Minister but if he is shouldered the responsibility, he will not back off.

Deuba argued that the party would benefit if the Prime Minister is picked from the NC.

“I am sure you do not say that Sher Bahadur should not become the Prime Minister,” Deuba said lightheartedly.

Prachanda-Nepal faction of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is mulling to form a new government in collaboration with the NC following the reinstatement of the House of Representatives.
