Prachanda, Nepal biggest opponent of communist movement: PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has accused the Chairmen of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and Madhav Nepal as the biggest opponent of the communist movement.

“The biggest opponents of the communist movement are those sitting on the road branding them as a communist. They are the ones who are against democracy and the communist movement,” PM said referring to the Prachanda-Nepal faction, “They are the ones who ruined the communist movement. They only linked the movement with selfishness.”

On a separate note, he said that the peasant movement was and will be for social awakening and change, adding that the government was committed to modernization in agriculture.

“Agriculture has not received any subsidy. We are monitoring it, “he said, “The government provides grants for the development of the agricultural sector. The government is trying to modernize the agricultural sector.”

During his address, PM Oli scoffed at the general strike carried out by the Prachanda-Nepal faction.

Prime Minister Oli said that Prachanda went observe the general strike on a vehicle by enforcing a strike that has hit people hard.

Oli’s commented that they themselves participated in the strike due to the shortage of cadres.

The Prime Minister further warned Prachanda not to threaten saying that there is a rule of law in the country.

“The rule of law is there now. Everyone has to abide by law and constitution,” said Prime Minister Oli.

He said that Prachanda had threatened the court and the Election Commission and that no one should be threatened under the rule of law.
