NCP leaders including Astalaxmi Shakya arrested from Kalanki



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested leaders of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) including Standing Committee member Astalaxmi Shakya from Kalanki area.

Posting a Facebook message on Thursday morning, Deputy Chief of Department of Foreign Affairs and Central Committee member Bishnu Rijal informed that leaders including Shakya were arrested on early morning today.

The other arrested include Hitman Shakya, central member Amrit Thapa, Krishna KC from Chahabil and youth leader Ramesh Malla from Bag Bazaar.

Meanwhile, police have arrested five cadres of the Prachanda-Nepal group from Samakhusi area on the charge forcing bandha on early morning today.

The arrested are Milan Tamang, Samir Tamang, Ramesh Tamang, Raj Kumar Tamang and Rajendra Pandey, infomed Ram Prasad Sapkota, the coordinator of National Youth Association.

Similarly, other 35 cadres of the disgruntled have beeen arrested from different areas while they were engaged in halting transport system and enforcing bandh.

The disgruntled breakaway faction, which has been agitating against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), has called a general strike today.
