CJ Rana discharged from hospital

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana has been discharged from the hospital Friday morning.

He was admitted to APF Hospital on November 29 after being infected with the coronavirus.

The hospital said in a statement on Friday that Rana had been discharged at 9.30 am.

Earlier, Chief Justice Rana had refused to give the responsibility of acting Chief Justice to Senior Justice Deepak Kumar Karki and said that he would return to work from Friday.

According to the constitutional provision, senior judge Deepak Kumar Karki should have been given the responsibility automatically in case CJ Rana was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

But on Friday, Rana himself was discharged from the hospital and will return to work, a source said.
