UML leader Poudel calls for implementation of Lumbini Master Plan

RUPANDEHI: CPN-UML vice-chairman Bishnu Prasad Poudel has asked the government and stakeholders for the immediate implementation of the Lumbini Master Plan adding that it would contribute to the nation’s economy and prosperity drive.

Poudel, who came here to attend the 17th Establishment Day of Lumbini Buddhist University on Thursday, stated that the implementation of the Lumbini Master Plan is needed for further development of this site as the world’s lucrative religious and touristic destination.

“This is also the centre of faith of almost one third of the world’s population. So, the state’s full attention is required for its development,” the former finance minister said.

Poudel also asked the officials for the implementation of Lumbini Master Plan drawn by Japanese architect Professor Kenzo Tange some 42 years ago.

On the occasion, Poudel shared the efforts made by him during his term as the finance minister for the development of Lumbini adding that he allocated Rs 7.33 billion.
