BIRGUNJ: As India recorded the cases of omicron variant of COVID-19, officials have increased high surveillance in the Birgunj border point along the Nepal-India border area.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa Umesh Kumar Dhakal said that preparations have been made to conduct steps from District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre after the emergence of omicron variant of COVID-19 in India.

It is said that the administration is preparing an action plan to take precautions considering that the new variant of COVID-19 could enter in Nepal too.

Officials are working to prepare the plans as Parsa district was at high risk of new variant of the COVID-19 due to unrestricted human mobility from both the countries, thanks to open border.
