UML Statute General Convention concludes by passing all three proposals unanimously

KATHMANDU: The Statute General Convention of the CPN-UML has unanimously passed all the three proposals presented at the convention with suggestions.

Chairman KP Oli’s political report, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel’s organizational report and Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel’s statute amendment proposal were passed unanimously after the leaders answered the questions raised on the proposals at the UML’s first Statute General Convention at Godavari in Lalitpur Saturday.

Similarly, the Statute Convention formed a 15-member party’s Election Commission under the convenorship of Dr. Bijay Subba to oversee the upcoming National General Convention. Chair Oli also proposed the names of commission members, including coordinator.

The party informed that the National General Convention will be held in Butwal. The meeting also passed some resolutions on contemporary issues. Leader Raghuji Pant said the Statute Convention expressed outrage over the issuance of an ordinance to split the UML.

The Statute Convention also called on all party cadres, who were deceived to join other political parties, to return to the mother party UML. The UML also decided to continue its struggle on behalf of the landless, condemning the dismissal of the Land Commission by the incumbent government.

Similarly, leader Pant said the party demanded to rectify a provision brought through the replacement bill that legitimizes the sources of funds  attained illegitimately.
