KATHMANDU: A bench of Justice Meera Khadka is hearing the writ petition filed by CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli against the Election Commission (EC) and Speaker Agni Sapkota today.

UML Chairperson Oli had filed a writ petition against the Election Commission and the Speaker on Wednesday alleging the EC for recognizing the CPN-Unified Socialist, which was formed by splitting the UML illegally, as a political party.

Chairman Oli, in his petition, has demanded that the EC’s decision be repealed claiming that nine UML lawmakers, who have been expelled by the party had been recognized as members of the Unified Socialist.

Similarly, Oli has also alleged Speaker Sapkota for not taking action against the 14 lawmakers, who were expelled by the UML.
