Kavre to run four water supplies projects

KAVRE: Raj Kumar Parajuli Four mega projects of drinking water supplies are being developed in the Kavre district with the purpose to supply drinking water to a large number of people at four different local levels.

In Namobuddha Municipality, a drinking water project with an investment of Rs 300 million is in the final phase of implementation.

The project being developed under the Federal Drinking Water and Wastewater Management Project is likely to benefit more than 1,600 households from Bhakunde valley in the municipality.

Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality TP Sharma Timalsina said that the municipality’s campaign for ‘a drinking water tap for each house’ would be successfully implemented after the completion of this project.

Likewise, another project of drinking water has been initiated at Mandan Deupur Municipality in the district.

In the first phase, a tender notice for Rs 540 million has been issued to initiate the construction works.

Of the 12 wards, nine wards in the municipality that are reeling under crisis of water shortage would be provided with the safe drinking water.

The Federal Government had allocated Rs 1 billion for the project in the last fiscal year.

The project should be completed in three years and is expected to benefit more than 5,500 households.

Likewise, a drinking project is being developed in Panchkhal Municipality as well.

The project of Rs 2.21 billion is expected to supply drinking water to as high as 7,000 households in the municipality.

Officials said that the project would distribute water to the locals through lifting technology by developing well on Indrawati riverbank at Bimire in Bhumlu.

Similarly, a drinking water project is being developed at Temal Rural Municipality as well.

The project was started two years ago at the cost of Rs 1.3 billion. Chairman of drinking water users’ committee Sangramjit Lama said that more than 95 per cent of the project’s works are completed.
