Proposal floated to hold UML General Convention by mid-May 2022

General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel proposed not to clash General Convention with general elections schedule

KATHMANDU: A proposal has been put forth to hold the 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML by mid-May next year.

At the Central Committee meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Saturday, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel proposed to convene a general convention by mid-May 2022, pushing the earlier agreed date, November 18-22,2021.

As per Pokharel’s proposal, renewal and distribution of party membership would conclude by mid-July this year and details would be updated at the center by August 20 in the current year. Similarly,  a proposal to amend party constitution would be forwarded to the subordinate committees by July 9, 2021. After that, the ward level convention would start on September 21, 2021.

Pokharel stressed that the party should hold the general convention without clashing it with the general election schedule.

He also said that the party should be more organized amid conflicts seen in the party. He also told the meeting that it was a serious matter that the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction did not participate in the meeting even after the party reverted to Central Committee by dissolving the 10th General Convention Organizing Committee, as they had demanded.
