Second tier leaders of ruling UML seeking places to patch up differences



KATHMANDU: Second generation of ruling CPN-UML’s rivaling Chairman KP Oli faction and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal faction are holding talks to ensure party unity.

According to UML sources, leaders of the taskforce formed by each camp are holding talks in Kupandol based Hotel Summit since Saturday morning.

Earlier, the central committee meeting of the party held at Prime Minister KP Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar had urged disgruntled Khanal-Nepal faction to withdraw their support the latter had given to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The meeting had issued three-day ultimatum to Khanal-Nepal faction to withdraw their signatures from the writ petition signed on behalf of NC leader Deuba.

Khanal-Nepal faction leaders had requested PM Oli faction not to issue ultimatum. UML Vice-Chairman Bam Dev Gautam had also objected to the ultimatum. However, PM Oli close leaders refused not to issue the ultimatum.

UML General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel, the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokharel and Standing Committee member Subash Chandra Nembang of Chairman Oli faction and Surendra Pandey, Gokarna Bist, Bhim Acharya and Ghana Shyam Bhusal.
