CPN-UML holding Central Committee meeting today

Likely to reschedule date of Gen Con



KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML is holding its central committee (CC) meeting today.

The CC meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s oicial residence in Baluwatar at 3 pm will dwell on the organizational functions of the party, informed Sher Bahadur Tamang, the secretary of the central party office of the UML.

“No organizational activities have been taken forward since the unification with the CPN (Maoist Center). Today’s CC meeting will take a decision on expediting organizational activities including membership distribution of the party,” said Tamang.

Today’s CC meeting will also reconsider scheduled the date of the 10th general convention of the party in view of the upcoming mid-term polls and local elections.

UML had earlier scheduled its general convention for November 18-22.

Tamang said preparations are underway to hold general convention in the Nepali month Aswhin or in Jestha 2079 BS.

He further said the leaders of the Nepal-Khanal faction have been directed to withdraw signatures they had signed proposing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister of Nepal within 72 hours.

“If they do not withdraw signatures, they will be penalized as per the party statute,” said Tamang.
