Heavy rain forecast in Pradesh 1, 2, Bagmati and Gandaki

People urged to take precaution



KATHMANDU: With the monsoon getting active, the rain is occurring in various parts of the country since Friday night.

Currently, the rain is occurring in many places of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Pradesh and in one or two places of the rest of the provinces, said the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

The MFD has forecast rains in most parts of the country today afternoon and tonight, urging the people especially those living along the banks of the rivers.

Similarly, light to moderate rains are predicted in many places of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati, Gandakri and Lumbini Pradesh and in a few places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Pradesh today afternoon.

Heavy rains coupled with thunderstorms are forecast in a few places of Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati Pradesh and Gandaki Pradesh.

Likewise, heavy rain is occurring in many places of Ilam, Jhapa and Morang, currently, triggering floods in Mechi, Biring, Ninda, Kankai, Chisang Khola, Mawa, Ratuwa, Lohandra, Bakraha, Nun Khola among others.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people living along the river banks and those in the low-lying region to take precautions, warning of floods and inundation.

Meanwhile, the water lever has crossed the danger mark of the Bagmati River at Karmaiya in Rautahat.

Similarly, the water level has also crossed the danger mark in the Maryangdi River at Bimalnagar in Tanahun and in the East Rapti River at Rajaiya in Makwanpur, said MFD, warning of floods and inundation.
