62 km section of Postal Highway not completed in five years

MAHENDRANAGAR: The construction of the Postal Highway in the district is still in limbo even after the completion of two construction terms.

The 62 km road section from Dokebazaar to Daiji was contracted for construction in 2073 BS with the agreement of completing the project in 30 months. However, the road is still in limbo.

Only 25 km road section is constructed so far, said information officer Engineer Padam Madai of the Postal Highway office, Kailali.

He added that the contracted company is delaying in construction bid and preparation was being made to extend the deadline by more than six months but not confirmed so far.

Meanwhile, the Indian side is said to be obstructed in the construction bid in Pachui of Belauri Municipality along the road section.

Madai shared that the Indian side was claiming the road constructing areas lie on its territories on the basis of GPS map.

The Indian side is disputing in the territories over the 38 no border pillar and Indian border security force SSB is obstructing to blacktop the road section there.

The project cost is Rs 1.9 billion and it is expected to ease the travel of locals and transportation of goods if it was constructed sooner.
