78 hotels designated as quarantine facility

KATHMANDU: A total of 78 hotels registered with the Department of Tourism have been designated as a quarantine facility for those arriving in Nepal from three destinations including India, now open for air travel.

The hotels range from tourism hotels and four stars and five-star ones.

The hotels offering quarantine facilities include Shangrila, Radisson, Hotel Yak and Yeti, Hyatt Regency, Soaltee Hotel, Everest Hotel, Hotel Shanker, Hotel Himalaya, Summit Hotel, The Amadablam Hotel, Hotel Shambala, Hotel Le Himalayan, Platinum Hotel, Traditional Comfort, and Hotel Landmark. Five stars hotels have managed more than 25 rooms for quarantine.

The government has opened international flights to India, Qatar, Turkey, and China beginning Thursday.

Those reaching Nepal from foreign countries including India are required to stay on a 10-day quarantine.

Likewise, those getting to the country from Gulf countries have the option to stay at five days quarantine and those facing a special situation can stay at home-quarantine. Hotel Shanker, Hotel Himalaya, Summit Hotel, The Amadablam Hotel, Hotel Shambala, Hotel Le Himalayan, Platinum Hotel, Traditional Comfort, and Hotel Landmark provide such facility.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has designated eight hotels as offering quarantine facilities.

The Department has set fees charged by tourist hotels at Rs 3,000 that includes breakfast, lunch, tiffin, and dinner while star hotels have to set charges for service on their own, said the Director-General of the Department Rudra Singh Tamang.
