NC decision merely a publicity stunt: UML leader Rijal

KATHMANDU: Bishnu Rijal, a CPN-UML leader close to Madhav Kumar Nepal faction, has alleged that the Nepali Congress’ (NC) recent decision to seek Prime Minister KP Oli’s resignation was merely a publicity stunt.

Rijal told the media that the NC move was only aimed at quashing opposing voices within the NC.

Stating that Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), a key force, was holding intense discussion with PM Oli, Rijal claimed that the NC was not a key player in new power-sharing deal.

The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress had reached an agreement to take initiative for forming a new government after seeking the resignation of PM Oli on Friday evening.

While JSP Federal Council Chairman Babu Ram Bhattarai and the CPN (Maoist Center) hailed the NC move, Rijal’s skeptic view about the NC is viewed as the latest perception of UML’s disgruntled faction.
