KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party’s Federal Council Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has once again termed Prime Minister KP Oli as the demon Bhasmasur.

Appreciating the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting’s decision to dethrone PM Oli and form the government under NC leadership, Dr. Bhattarai said that the main priority for all now is to bid farewell to Bhasmasur Oli.

“Finally, the main opposition NC has decided to play the role of opposition, this is commendable,” Dr. Bhattarai has tweeted on Saturday, adding, “There are differences among the parties in terms of the political agenda; however, our main priority today is the farewell of Bhasmasur Oli.”

On its CWC meet on Friday, the NC decided to replace the Oli government and form a new government under its own leadership. Congress has also demanded the resignation of PM Oli.

Bhasmasur, according to Hindu mythology, was a demon (asur) who was granted the power to burn up and immediately turn into ashes (bhasma) anyone whose head he touched with his hand. When he turned arrogant of his power and threatened to kill the gods, trickily, Lord Vishnu’s only female avatar the enchantress Mohini, made him imitate her and put his hand on his head which turned the demon into ashes.
