Election security preparations complete in Koshi Province



BIRATNAGAR: All security preparations have been completed in Koshi Province for the upcoming (March 5) House of Representatives (HoR) election.

Binod Ghimire, Chief of the Koshi Province Police Office in Biratnagar, said the provincial security committee has finalized all arrangements to prevent any untoward incidents during the polls. He stated that special surveillance measures will be implemented, and security personnel will be mobilized based on an assessment of sensitive and highly sensitive locations, in line with the approved security strategy.

According to Ghimire, around 12,000 Nepal Police personnel, 23,000 temporary election police, and additional security staff will be deployed across the province to ensure a free and fair voting environment.

The Armed Police Force Koshi Province Office in Sunsari District has also confirmed the deployment of 2,561 Armed Police Force personnel along with 5,649 election police personnel for the polls.

Koshi Province has 28 constituencies for the House of Representatives. There are a total of 3,574,286 registered voters in the province, including 1,749,073 women, 1,828,213 men, and 24 voters categorized under others.

According to the Election Office, the province has 4,270 polling stations and 1,907 polling centers established for the election.
