Prachanda-Nepal faction’s SC meeting underway at Peris Danda

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of Prachanda-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started at Perisdanda in Koteshwor on Wednesday.

The SC meeting will set agendas for the Central Committee (CC) meeting to be held at 1 pm today.

The CC meeting will dwell on the latest political developments following the reinstatement of the House of Representatives (HoR) and chalk out the future strategy, said Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the spokesperson of the faction.

Encouraged by the decision of the Supreme Court to reinstate the dissolved HoR, the Prachanda-Nepal faction is now mulling to form a new government in collaboration with the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC).

The faction has directed its CC members to be present with identity cards and citizenship in the meeting today so that it could collect and submit them at the Election Commission (EC) to get the authenticity issue of the party resolved at the earliest.

On Monday, leaders of the Prachanda-Nepal faction including Rajendra Prasad Pandey, Ram Narayan Bidari and Lilamani Pokharel had reached the Office of the EC and drew its attention to solve the issue of the party’s authenticity at the earliest.

The faction has already withdrawn a no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on December 20, 2020, paving the way for the party unification.
