Supreme Court orders Prachanda to furnish a written response

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” to furnish a written reply on the contempt of court.

A bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma ordered him to respond in writing on the contempt of court writ filed by Sameer Hayu against Prachanda in the Supreme Court on Monday.

The hearing was scheduled for Tuesday but was postponed to Wednesday.

In the petition, it has been mentioned that Prachanda has repeatedly spoken on the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives that is sub judice in the Supreme Court.

He has also been alleged, in the petition, of making statements targeting the judges.

Earlier, the SC had directed Prime Minister KP Oli, former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana and four former chief justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anupraj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha and Sushila Karki to appear in person and file a written response on contempt of court.
