KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to take a strong stand against those trying to forcefully impose Thursday’s general strike announced by the NCP Dahal-Nepal faction.

The Home Ministry has stated that it will take measures as per the 84-point action plan issued by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa (Badal).

One of the points in the action plan issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs says no group can impose a strike or block highways and roads to fulfill their demands.

Ministry sources claim that the government will stand up if any party tried to block the main highway.

Nepal Police Spokesperson Basanta Bahadur Kunwar also said that they will retaliate against the general strike of the Dahal-Nepal faction.

He said that the police were prepared to defend the protest as there was a policy of not stopping vehicles and not allow anyone for the forceful closer of businesses. “Any party can hold protest programs, but it is not allowed to cause trouble to the people,” he said.

According to the Police Headquarters, the police are prepared to provide full security to the vehicles including the businesses.

The NCP Dahal-Nepal faction has announced a nationwide general strike on Thursday.
